Canberra Montessori Bulletin Term 3 Week 7

From the Acting Principal…

As we move into spring we enjoy the longer daylight hours and the signs of new life as blossoms fill the trees. That brings the grass to life also after being dormant for a time. Thank you Charlie and his band of helpers who work tirelessly to maintain and develop the environment.

Who doesn’t enjoy entering a competition? For those who do please check out the details of this “Photo Caption” competition open to the whole school community.

  • To enter please collect a form from the office.
  • Take a photo of the building project
  • Include a one sentence caption under the photo
  • Return to the office by 17th September.

There will be prizes awarded in 2 categories, students and adults. Entries will be on show in the display cabinet outside the office. Join the fun and get your entry in.

The message from Tina in this bulletin speaks of her experience of the support and care given to her by the school community. There will be a chance soon to greet her and wish her well when she comes for a visit.

Dear Canberra Montessori Community,

I would like to express my sadness at no longer being able to continue as principal of Canberra Montessori School due to my partner’s serious illness. This has come about quite suddenly and has turned my life’s plans around quite drastically.

It has been a great pleasure to have worked at Canberra Montessori School. I believe that the amazing staff you have in the classrooms and in Administration are a truly dedicated, committed and compassionate group of people. The students have been a true delight and are fine examples of Montessori students. Their friendliness, grace and courtesy and general love of learning has been a truly rewarding experience.

I know that you will be anxious about who will come on board as principal, however, I firmly believe that the Board will continue to find the ‘right Montessorian’ to help guide your school in the outstanding direction it is already going.

Canberra Montessori School is supported by staff and board members who are committed to the Montessori method of education and I am confident that the person they choose to lead the school will hold the Montessori principles and values close to their heart, as I have done.

I have had the privilege of working alongside some wonderfully experienced, talented and compassionate people at Canberra Montessori School and know that the children in their care are lucky.

I would like to thank the community for their support since the beginning of the year and to all the parents who have put so much of their time and efforts into supporting the dedicated work being done at Canberra Montessori School.

I would especially like to thank Bob Dent who has taken on board more than just the Business Manager’s role and Judy, Sally-Anne and Leilani for all their support and great work.

I would also like to thank the teaching staff for being so co-operative, committed and willing to work collectively towards providing an excellent Montessori education for the children in their care.

A huge thank you must be extended to the Board of Canberra Montessori School for their understanding, support and guidance over the last 3 terms - working with you has been a pleasure. Thank you to Steve Stern for your support and for being an outstanding Chairman, continuing to direct the Board towards decisions always taking into account full Montessori practices.

Thank you once again to you the parents and families whom I have had the great pleasure of meeting and working with.

Warmest regards,

Tina Forsyth

THANK YOU

The F and S committee would like to thank Sue Allanson for all the work she has done over the past 9 years.  Sue has been quietly, and efficiently, working away at the school helping with hundreds of activities, from cooking with the Cycle 3’s to Learnscapes to organising the first Ice-cream stall at the Fair. Sue made sure that our school Narooma weekend went smoothly each year (something which I am sure most of us take for granted).  She has also been managing the distribution and organisation of the entertainment book over the last few years, which has raised significant amounts of money for the school.

Sue has decided to put her talents into other endeavours from next year.  We wish her the best and offer her a massive thank you for all her time and effort at the school.

From next year Brigid Lombard will be organising the entertainment books and Liz Holt will be ensuring the Narooma weekend runs smoothly.
